Yakima County Clerk's Office is recruiting for Office Specialists, performing in-court clerk duties. These positions may work not only with the public, but also with attorneys, and other County Departments pertaining to court documents, as well as FTR recordings and other digitally maintained files. Prior knowledge of RCW’s and court work flow is required. Performs specialized legal support services for Yakima County Superior and Juvenile Court in activities such as pre-trial court preparation, maintaining records of Court proceedings; preparing courtroom; inventory and custody of physical evidence; summarizing and recording court rulings; assisting assigned Judge in court; facilitating jury selection; and preparing court calendars. May perform in-office duties for both Superior and Juvenile Court. May assist judicial officers and related personnel with case management and documentation of litigation and provide other assistance to judicial officers as required. Duties include maintaining extensive networks of legal and other parties to the cases; monitoring schedules and resources; gathering and verifying relevant information prior to action or recommendation for action; reviewing, verifying, disseminating court rulings & findings, entering and maintaining data in a computer database; and maintaining all records of these and other cases according to procedure.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma (or GED) and a minimum of three (3) full-time years of general office experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Training should lead to a general understanding of legal documents, court procedures and administrative functions.
