Job Description:

Yakima Chief Ranches is seeking to hire a technician to work in a research laboratory setting focusing on hop research and propagation. The successful applicant will join our technical staff to assist in plant tissue culture and molecular biology, including but not limited to making plant tissue culture media, mixing chemical stock solutions, data collection and entry, glassware washing, general lab maintenance/cleaning, plant micropropagation, DNA and RNA extraction, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

Candidates must:

• Be meticulous in attention to detail and documentation
• Have interest in working in a lab environment and working with plants
• Be able to sit for several hours per day while working in a laminar flow hood
• Be creative in improving processes and protocols
• Be able to perform simple math related to unit conversions and molar calculations
• Willing to work on projects and tasks in a team and as an individual
• Be able to work consistent full time hours Monday through Friday. Be able to work every day during harvest (roughly the month of September)
• Be able to aid in technical report and protocol writing
• Be willing and open to learning and self-improvement

Experience:

• Previous laboratory, agriculture and research experience is preferred, but not required

Education:

• High School/GED Equivalent or above.

Compensation:

• $15.00-$19.00/hour DOE
